Blog #409: How Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Demonstrate the Importance of Separating Personal and P

Before I begin this blog, I want to make it very clear that I have absolutely NOTHING against Taylor Swift. Although I am not in ANY WAY a Swifty, she’s a good singer and is very proud of what she does for her fans.

But ever since she started dating Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce, I have felt a sense that both she and Travis have been setting an example of what happens when we let our personal lives intertwine with our professional lives that can also ruin the environment for those who wish to either work or enjoy the workplace environment.

Think about it for a second, Travis Kelce plays in the National Football League for a living so essentially he is doing a full time job for a living. He feels that having Taylor at the games is a sort of good luck charm and expects everyone to benefit from it.

Of course, when you constantly see Taylor Swift at every Chiefs game, you gotta ask yourself a question…is she and Travis Kelce setting a good example for setting boundaries in the workplace? The fact that someone can be a distraction to the point where it affects your performance?

Well, the answer to that question is yes and no. The only reason that Taylor Swift is constantly attending Chiefs games is because the NFL sees it as a cash grab. From an entrepreneur and business perspective, I see her as a distraction to what is really important. Plus, from a personal perspective, it kinds of ruins the excitement of something like the Super Bowl.

Now it’s also important to remember that celebrities are not above anything that they have to be no different than everyone else.

When celebrities or fads become a distraction, it affects how the business operates and how the public views you as a public figure. But Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are just people to me who seek to draw attention to themselves that is often unnecessary.

If you are going to be a celebrity, it isn’t about being popular and famous, it’s about being humble and working towards obtaining a common goal while setting a good example for your fans and followers. As for whether they have a future together, time will tell. When it comes to celebrity couples, it can vary.

Sometimes, a celebrity couple needs to be brought down a level to make them see that fame isn’t worth everything. We have to work for a common goal and bringing in someone who is famous and makes a money isn’t going to speed up reaching that common goal.

That is why if Taylor focuses on her upcoming concert tour and not be at the Super Bowl on February 11th, it will send a message that you have to keep your mind on the workplace and not on the distraction that is in your life.

Again, I’m not in ANY WAY disrespecting any Taylor Swift or Kansas City Chiefs fans. I’m just trying to teach the importance of separating personal and professional lives in the workplace whether you are a celebrity or not.

Besides, while I would like to see Kansas City become a dynasty, the San Francisco 49ers have not won the Super Bowl since I was in kindergarten, and it would be nice to see them get the job done!!

Catch you all later!!
