“It’s the Story You Haven’t Heard.”
…
Growing up in the 1990s and 2000s, those were the words that I looked forward to hearing because while many of my peers were watching shows that were modern and hip, I was watching shows that were on my level as well as informative.
The “E! True Hollywood Story” was my first exposure to life in Hollywood and something I took as a creative liberty when I was in high school. This was definitely evident in my high school history classes where as my peers would write bland history projects, I would throw in a creative spin on my presentations giving the subjects a sort of “E! True Hollywood Story” spin. Some of these subjects included:
Henry VIII
Henry Ford
Al Capone
…
Now you might be wondering why I would take something like “THS” and incorporate it into my education and for that matter, my life as a neurodiverse individual.
That’s because I learned a lot from watching “E! True Hollywood Story” than what I learned from what anyone else told me about Hollywood or even in life for that matter.
In a way, a person’s life is like an “E! True Hollywood Story” highlighting what went on in that person’s life via reenactments and interviews with the person’s friends, authors that studied the person’s life, professionals that were involved in the person’s life and often times, the person him or herself.
The point I am trying to make is that if there is a creative outlet for neurodiverse individuals, “E! THS” can serve as that creative outlet for some individuals like myself.
…
Now, that’s not to say that my whole life is an “E! True Hollywood Story” because it certainly would be. As a neurodiverse self-advocate and public story, I know that if my life was an “E! True Hollywood Story,” a lot of people would find it interesting, informative and inspiring.
It’s a shame that “E! True Hollywood Story” isn’t on television as much anymore because this series is one of those that fires creativity that a lot of individuals who are creative can benefit from. But you can find episodes on YouTube that can be interesting, informative and inspiring.
Want to know my favorite episode? Well, there’s quite a few, but one of my favorites is “The Curse of Poltergeist.”
