Well, it’s that time of year again when schools let out for the summer and both students and teachers recharge for the upcoming school year in late August/early September. However, this is also the time for the aspect of Summer Reading to take hold.

If you are looking for some reading material to keep you occupied this summer with the subject being autism/neurodiversity, there are plenty of books to choose from ranging from books written by professionals to the individuals themselves. Some of these topics can include the following:

Autism/Neurodiversity

General/Special Education

Employment

Transitioning

Given that the diagnosis ratio is 1 in 44 nowadays, I think that books about autism/neurodiversity and the other topics I have mentioned above are the first step in getting the public more acquainted for what autism/neurodiversity is supposed to be. I will discuss more in the next blog, but it would be nice if public and private schools make these kinds of books as part of a required school wide summer reading objective.

As for reading suggestions, I have a few listed below as a starting point. Some of them have been reviewed by me in the past and if you want to check those out, go to the book reviews section on this website:

These books are just a few examples of what you can find in reading material. Each one tells a definite story about autism/neurodiversity and helps the outside world understand what autism/neurodiversity is and how acceptance can be found.

In addition to Amazon, you can find copies in person or online at Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million or even at your local library. So don’t wait, get reading today!

Catch you all later!!
