Being, Belonging, Becoming

Those are the killer B’s that make up B3 Coffee based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, just outside of Raleigh/Durham with a secondary base of operations in San Diego, California. Who knows what a cup of tea or coffee or even a hot chocolate might do to build relationships within the community? It may not seem like much, but these three hot drinks get us moving with our days while also helps building job skills for the individuals who make those drinks.

B3 Coffee Founder, Jacklyn Goggins

B3 Coffee was founded by Jacklyn Goggins, a former barista at Starbucks who had a desire to use her skills as an occupational therapist and create a non-profit that helps neurodiverse and disabled individuals belong in a space where they can build skills to go out into the real world all through a cup of coffee or other hot drinks.

Now there is something about coffee that brings people together. We all have those favorites coffee shops where we gather and connect with others. When you think of coffee, you think of the major coffee chains like Starbucks and Dunkin.

Sure, those companies are successful and hire neurodiverse/disabled individuals for their positions, but for some neurodiverse/disabled individuals, working alongside neurotypical coworkers can be a major challenge. There is so much activity that goes on behind the counter at a coffee shop and believe me, I should know as a loyal customer of Starbucks since 2018.

With something like B3 Coffee, the neurodiverse/disabled individual has the ability to be like a seed and grow their job skills over time. All you have to do is keep your menu simple and easy for the individual and as they prepare the order, they grow their confidence like branches on a tree while their overall skills in life are like the tree itself.

B3 Coffee is also known as a pop-up stand, meaning that if you are looking for someone to provide refreshments for those who attend your event, call on B3 Coffee and they will set up a stand where people can go for coffee, tea and refreshments, proving that they can have a choice if a Starbucks or a Dunkin’ Donuts isn’t available on the customer’s schedule.

By purchasing a refreshment from B3 Coffee, you are not only doing good business with a great non-profit, you are also building confidence for the person behind the counter to learn and grow.

So, if you are in the Raleigh-Durham or San Diego areas and have an upcoming event that is going to need a pop up stand for your attendees, call on B3 Coffee because once you have a taste of their product, you will be coming back for more!!

Don’t believe me? Just ask Maggie Simpson…

Catch you all later!!
