For the nest installment of my “Neurodiversity Business” spotlight, I cover a business that focuses on taking care of your car’s hygiene. Well, not in that sense, but you get the idea.
Rising Tide Car Wash in Parkland, Florida is a business made up of entirely of a neurodiverse workforce with one goal in mind…to wash cars. But, like my previous blog and others that will come after this one, Rising Tide Car Wash was founded to help benefit one neurodiverse individual in a job that would utilize his strengths and abilities.

Rising Tide Car Wash founder John D’Eri and his son, Andrew
Rising Tide was founded in 2011 by John D’Eri who came up with the novel idea that his son, Andrew, who was very capable of landing a job but was never given the opportunity to obtain one simply because no one was willing to give him a chance. The leadership later became a family affair as John’s other son, Tom, was brought in as the company’s Chief Operations Officer.
Like a lot of parents and guardians of neurodiverse individuals, John would often lose sleep over what Andrew’s future was like when he would no longer be there to support him.

This is a very common fear that is understandably shared among families and who can blame them for it. But as they always say, if someone isn’t going to give you a chance, then take matters into your own hands.
But to get back to the spotlight, Rising Tide is the successful business that it is because of it’s neurodiverse workforce. Each and every one of the people that make up the workforce has one goal in mind, to make customers happy and coming back for more.

To the average neurotypical, getting a job at a car wash may seem like something you wouldn’t want to waste your time on. But to neurodiverse/disabled individuals like myself, car washing is one of those jobs that we take pride in doing.
In fact, Rising Tide Car Wash has gotten so popular that a second location was opened not too long ago in Margate, FL. In addition, Rising Tide has been featured on news programs like NBC’s “Today Show” and NBC Nightly News to promote itself and share its story with the rest of the world.
